Setting Up Eudora 5

  • Begin by opening Eudora 5
  • Click on the "Tools" menu.
  • Choose "Options."
  • Select the "Getting Started" Icon.
  • Enter your name in the "Real name" box.
  • Enter your email address in the "Return address" box.
  • Enter your mail server name in the "Mail Server" box. (see hint)
  • Enter your login name in the "Login Name" box.(see hint)
  • Enter your outgoing mail server name in the SMTP Server box.(see hint)

Hint: your login name is the first part of your email address and your mail server names are the last part of your email address with 'mail.' apended to it. So if your email addres is 'elf@northpole.com' your login name would be 'elf' and your incoming and outgoing mailservers would be 'mail.northpole.com'

  • Select the "Checking Mail" icon.
  • Verify that your mail server and login name are correct.
  • Select "Don't check without a network connection."
  • Select "Send on check."
  • Select "Save password."

 

  • Click the "Incoming mail" Icon.
  • Make sure "Server configuration" is set to "POP."
  • Make sure "Authentication style" is set to "Passwords."

 

  • Select the "Sending Mail" Icon.
  • Verify that your "Return Address" is correct.
  • Verify that your "SMTP Server" is correct.
  • Select "Allow authentication."
  • Select "Immediate send."
  • Select "Send on check."

 

  • Select the "Internet Dialup" Icon.
  • Select "Have Eudora connect using Dial-up networking."
  • Select Your dial up connection from the "Entry:" box.
  • Select "Only do automatic mail checks when a connection is established."
  • Click "OK."
