New Account Setup:

  • Open Outlook 2000.
  • Click the "Tools" menu
  • Choose the "Accounts."

Note: Some versions of Outlook 2000 have this listed as "Services" rather than "Accounts."

  • Click the "Add" button
  • Choose the "Mail" option as shown below.
  • Begin by putting in the "display name."

That is the name that people will see when they receive an e-mail from this account. It does not have to match the e-mail username.

  • Click the "Next" button.
  • Enter your e-mail address.
  • Click "Next".
  • Select "POP3" as the mail server type.
  • For incoming and outgoing mail enter mail.ispname.com where ispname.com is the part of your email address after the @ sign.

Example: If your email address is elf@northpole.com your mail server address would be mail.northpole.com.

  • Click "Next."
  • Enter your account name and password.

Hint: your account name is the part of your email address before the @ sign. So if your email address is elf@northepole.com your account name would be elf.

  • Select "Connect using my phone line."
  • Select "Use an existing dial-up connection"
  • Select your Dial-up connection from the box.
  • Click "Next."
Click "Finish."
